There are also two non-municipal libraries in the town of Harwich. These libraries are not branches of the Brooks Free Library. They are independently owned and are governed by a private association. Both libraries are open to the public and do not charge for a library card. A Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing (CLAMS) card is not needed to use these libraries since they’re not members of the consortium.
Delivery of inter-library loan materials is provided by our library region to all three Harwich libraries and books and items returned to the Harwich Port and Chase libraries will be returned to us through the regional delivery service. However, since these libraries are not members of CLAMS, they do not use the same automated system, and items will not be checked in until they arrive here. This delay of a few days to a week could result in overdue fines, so Brooks patrons are advised to return materials borrowed on their CLAMS card directly to us or another CLAMS member library.
