Several sources of free eBooks and eAudio are available to our patrons:

Commonwealth eBook Collection

The new Commonwealth eBook Collection uses the Axis 360 platform to provide access to even more digital content for Brooks Free Library Patrons. 


Axis 360 Overview:
  • Check out up to three titles at a time for a default loan period of two weeks. 
  • If a title is not available, place a hold to be notified when the title becomes available.  Once notified, you will have three days to check out the held title.
  • Holds can be placed on up to five titles at a time.
  • You can return a title early or the title will automatically be returned at the end of the lending period, so there are no late fees.

CLAMS Overdrive Collection

Brooks Free Library cardholders can access a wide variety of eBook and eAudio titles through the CLAMS consortium's collection. These titles display in the CLAMS catalog when you do any search of the catalog. You can also use this link to limit your CLAMS search to the eBooks and eAudio available through OverDrive. Visit OverDrive to search, browse, and checkout materials!

How to renew Library eBooks via the Libby App!

Boston Public Library's Overdrive Collection

Any Massachusetts resident may obtain a Boston Public Library e-Card, which can be used to download eBooks and eAudio from their Overdrive collection. This eCard can also be used to access other electronic resources from the Boston Public Library, including Hoopla streaming music, Zinio for online magazines, etc. A complete list of these resources can be found here.

TumbleBooks - eBooks for Kids and Teens!
Access these eBooks from any computer with an internet connection. The Library's subscription to TumbleBooks offer eBooks in three levels: 
Level 1 - TumbleBooksLibrary (For beginning readers)

Tumblebooks e-Books for Kids contains online eBooks, read-alongs, and more for pre-schoolers and early readers. 

         Existing picture books with animation, sound, music & narration
          Games and activities included with some stories.

Level 2 - TumbleBooks Jr. (For Grades 3-6)
  • Go beyond picture books with chapter books, graphic novels, classics & audio books
  • Read-alongs with adjustable text and color as well as sentence by sentence highlighting
Level 3 - TumbleBookCloud (For middle/high school) 

  • YA/Teen novels, classics, poetry, short stories, audio books, graphic novels & video
  • Read-alongs with adjustable text and color as well as sentence by sentence highlighting

With Hoopla, Brooks Free Library patrons will have immediate access to a growing collection of over a half a million:
  • eBOOKS
All content is available to patrons with a Brooks Free Library card and can be accessed via the Hoopla mobile app or website. Best of all, there are no waitlists, and no late fees!

Patrons can check out 5 items per month. Loan periods are:
  • Audiobooks, eBooks, & Comics: 21 days
  • Movies & Television episodes: 3 days
  • Music: 7 days
